How Temp Postal works under the hood
When you open the site a random local part is generated and paired with one of our delivering domains. That address is live immediately: mail servers around the world can already resolve the MX record and deliver to it. Inbound messages hit our mail gateway, are parsed, encrypted at rest with AES-256 and pushed to your open tab, which is why a verification email usually appears within a couple of seconds rather than after a manual refresh.
Nothing about the inbox is tied to an account. There is no password because there is nothing durable to protect: the address is unguessable, the mail is deleted on expiry, and no profile is built from it. That trade-off is deliberate - it makes the service instant, but it also means you should never point anything financial, medical or identity-related at a free disposable inbox.
When a temp address is the wrong tool
Anything you need to recover later needs a real mailbox. Banking, government services, tax portals, insurance, health records, domain registrars, cloud accounts holding your work and any subscription you pay for should all use an address you control permanently, because password resets flow through email and a disposable inbox will be gone when you need it.
Temp mail is at its best for the throwaway half of the internet: one-off downloads, forum registrations, coupon walls, free trials you intend to abandon, QA and staging signups, and any form where the only reason an email address is requested is so somebody can market to you afterwards.

How long does a temp mail inbox last?
Free inboxes retain mail for 48 hours from delivery. Premium extends retention and adds custom domains; Business extends it further and adds API access. Expired mail is deleted, not archived.
Do I need to create an account?
No. An address is generated the moment the page loads and works immediately. Accounts exist only for paid features such as extended retention, custom domains, saved inboxes and API keys.
Will websites accept a temp mail address?
